                A. The Colonial Mind

                                1.  The colonists believed a lust for power was natural and needed to be
                                      controlled.

                                2.  This lust led to corruption in politics and basic liberties being denied
                                      to the people.

                                3.  Colonists believed basic rights were ordained by god.

                                4.  The Declaration of Independence was primarily a list of complaints
                                      towards the king.

                                5.  Unalienable – A human right based on nature or God.
